Missing E-Book Images
You made any e-book but the images don't appear (or appear as a red X) - what's wrong?
There are a number of possible reasons why this problem might occur, but by far the two most common causes are:
1) You didn't place the images in the same folder as your HTML files ("your source folder").
2) The links in your HTML code (in SRC= in the IMG tag) to the image files are incorrect.
How To Fix - Word + PowerPoint
If you use Word or PowerPoint to author your HTML content, then the fix is pretty easy. Basically the problem is you didn't set up the save options correctly when saving into the HTML format.
Go back to Word or PowerPoint, and do the save again into HTML/Web Page format, following the instructions from Activ E-Book Compiler's Help/Getting Started instructions precisely.
Once you're done, re-Build your e-book, and the problem should hopefully be resolved... in the event it's not, keeping read the rest of this article.
How To Check - Are Images In The Right Place?
Go to the Files tab in Activ E-Book Compiler. Click Refresh on the Edit menu, and check the list of files for the image file names.
If you don't see them in the list, the chances are you didn't save the images in the folder where you think you did. Use Windows Explorer to locate the images and move or copy them to the correct folder, and then do another Refresh to check you have now placed them in the right location.
HTML Image Links
If your images are in the same folder as the HTML pages, and you are still getting a red X instead of images when you view the e-book, the problem is most likely the HTML code that references the images. Read our article on Avoiding Link Path Problems and you should hopefully be able to find and fix the HTML code.
